Over the Holiday season, I was in a salted caramel wonderland. I had a ton of mochas and hot chocolates from Starbucks. I also found a Salted Caramel Mocha creamer in my local Safeway. Not to mention I baked a few goodies with Salted Caramel in it.
Today I wanted to share a dessert I made for Christmas, Salted Caramel Brownies. These brownies are so decadent that it requires a glas of milk with it.. or two!
I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I did.
For the brownies, I used the Ghiradel Brownie Mix that is sold at Costco. For a 9x13 pan, I used two packages, and baked according to package directions.
Once the brownies were baked and cooled a little, I went to make the glaze.
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup of water
- 2 tablespoon butter
- ¼ c heavy cream
- 5 tablespoons of milk
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (optional, grind to smaller crystals)
With a pot on medium low heat, dissolve sugar in the water. If crystals start to form, use a wet pastry brush. Once sugar has dissolved, increase the heat to high. Give the pot a swirl every now and then (using the pot handle, no spoons or kitchen utensils in the mixture). It will start to bubble after a minute. Once the mixture has turned to a dark amber color, take it off of the heat and add the heavy cream. When the bubbles subside, add in the butter. After the butter is incorporated, add in the milk, stir and let cool. Once the mixture has cooled a little, pour it onto the brownies and sprinkle the sea salt over the glaze. Enjoy with a tall glass of milk!
NOTE: I prepared this the night before, stuck it in the fridge and it was perfect the next day.
Stay tuned for more recipes and how tos at InstantMommie. There will be some upcoming changes this next year with much more direction for the blog and I am really excited about it. Stick around!
